(COMING SOON!) Using Respectful Therapy Practices to Address Childhood Apraxia of Speech

Course Description

In this self-paced course, you'll explore how childhood apraxia of speech, traditionally viewed as a motor-planning disorder treated with regimented and repetitive practices, can be approached more thoughtfully.  Through lecture, reflection activities, and examples, you'll discover how speech components of respectful treatment approaches contrast with traditional therapy strategies.

Alisson Reber, MA, CCC-SLP

Alisson received her BA in viola in 2007 and her MA in Speech Language Pathology in 2013. Her first exposure to CAS came unexpectedly in 2008, through supporting an apraxia expert in genotype/phenotype research activities. Since then, she has enjoyed gaining significant virtual and in-person experience helping "tricky" clients access respectful, child-led speech sound therapy that adheres to principles of motor learning.

Continuing education courses are offered at no cost to contracted and employed Presence providers. In the event a course is canceled, the participants will have the option to attend a rescheduled event offered within 60 days of the canceled course.
